Stop Budgeting Like You’re Broke

Wealth and Wisdom
Monday's

A budget is a plan for your joy, not a prison for your money.

Here’s what I mean: Budgets aren’t about restriction. They’re about intention. When you stop budgeting like you’re broke, you start making choices that reflect your values, not just your fears. It’s about using your money to support the life you actually want.

Dollars and Sense

Back in school, I had a tight budget. Pennies had names. Every dollar had a job.

But even when my income grew, I clung to that same broke-student budget like a badge of honor. I called it discipline. But if I’m honest? It was fear.

I remember sitting there stressing over a $5 latte… while my savings account was finally looking healthy. I had the money but not the mindset.

And I see this all the time.

We upgrade the paycheck but forget to upgrade the budget. And that keeps us living small, when life is actually inviting us to live bigger.

Try adding a “joy line” to your budget:

money set aside for guilt-free spending on what makes you feel alive. No explanations. No shame. Just joy. Because budgeting isn’t about shrinking your life. It’s about expanding it with intention.

YOUR NEXT MOVE:

MoneyWise

A program that is about building security and joy. In our six months together, we’ll create a safety net that makes you feel grounded without sacrificing the things that make life sweet along the way.

Hit reply and tell me: your favorite guilt-free splurge. Mine? I’ll never say no to overpriced candles that make my whole house feel like a spa.

I read and respond to every message personally!

Until next time,

Wealth and Wisdom Monday's You can't heal what you cannot name. Here’s what I mean: That lump in your throat when you open your bank app isn’t “just nerves.” It’s your body remembering when money meant danger or shame. Money anxiety is old alarms still ringing. Dollars and Sense A few months ago, I was sitting across from a client who hadn’t checked her account in weeks. She was...
